Evaluation and Assessment Services

  • Neurodevelopmental and Neuropsychological Evaluations

When behavioral health symptoms are overwhelming to individuals and/or their primary health care providers, Neuropsychological and psychological evaluations can facilitate diagnostic clarity and guide more effective treatment interventions.

  • Psychoeducational and Psychological Evaluations
  • Diagnostic Evaluations of Learning, Behavioral, and Developmental Disorders

Educational Assessment is a specialty service provided by a licensed psychologist to provide patients with an understanding of their intellectual and developmental functioning as it relates to their achievement abilities in reading, written expression, mathematics, and decision making. Difficulties such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and other Learning Disabilities are identified through the administration and interpretation of standardized psychological tests and other diagnostic information-gathering techniques. A licensed psychologist has the expertise to also assess the impact of other concerns impacting an individual’s educational or work-related achievements, such as social anxiety, test anxiety, reactive trauma, depression, chronic medical conditions, and neurodiversity. PILV has a team of professionals who are experienced in providing a thorough diagnostic assessment beyond concerns with learning because we understand the impact of other mental, social, and medical factors that may contribute to one’s personal achievement. Once an assessment is completed, a written report is provided, which includes an explanation of the testing process and interpretation of results, all of which provides the individual and others with a better understanding of a person’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses. Recommendations for the future are also clearly outlined so individuals can self-advocate for their achievement needs and access accommodations in an academic and/or employment setting.

  • Pre-Surgical Evaluation

Formal Psychological Assessments are required for “Pain Assessments” or “Pre-surgical Psychological assessments”.  These assessments are often required for pre-surgical candidates who are recommended for spinal cord stimulation implants, bariatric surgeries, and other life-altering surgery procedures.  The psychologist works with the referring medical provider and the patient to identify any psychological difficulties that may affect an individual’s ability to adjust to a surgical implant process. Information is gathered through a consultative process which also includes a brief standardized testing protocol and a thorough review of a patient’s medical records.  This process may be required by an insurance company and is designed to inform medical professionals on how to best assist their patients to adjust and acclimate to their surgical plan. An assessment can be completed in one day. A written report is then provided to the referring physician with recommendations to help individualize an inclusive and supportive treatment plan.
